On Tuesday, December 1, Quadrangle submitted a building permit application to the City of Toronto for Heartwood the Beach Condos at 1884 Queen Street East.

This is the first application in Toronto for a six-storey wood-frame residential building since the provincial Building Code raised the permitted number of storeys from four to six on January 1, 2015.

Fieldgate Urban, with Hullmark Developments, engaged Quadrangle to design the wood-frame residential building for the northeast corner of Queen St and Woodbine Ave, in Toronto’s The Beach neighbourhood. The development team selected Quadrangle based on their industry leadership in mid-rise development as well as their advocacy for the potential of wood construction—Quadrangle was recently awarded the 2015 Wood Advocate Award by WoodWORKS! Ontario.

Construction is anticipated to start by March 2016 with an anticipated completion date in early 2017.
