Founded in 2015, Building Equality in Architecture Toronto (BEAT) is a volunteer-run organization committed to promoting equity for women in architecture through systemic and transformational changes. BEAT focuses on empowering women, enhancing the practice of architecture, and improving the human condition by fostering opportunities for community building, advocacy, networking, and mentorship. Under the guidance of a dedicated Executive and Advisory committee, BEAT has hosted over 110 events, including seminars and workshops, featuring more than 90 national and international speakers to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion. Initially a local initiative, BEAT has expanded into a national movement with chapters across Canada, supported by its members and accessible to all.

Please join us in congratulating Melanie Rank for her ongoing role and dedication as Treasurer, and in supporting BEAT as they continue their vital work to shape a more equitable and inclusive future in architecture, bolstered by their recent RAIC award.
