As Marco VanderMaas points out in his latest article in Construction Canada magazine, Toronto expects its population to grow by half a million people over the next two decades.  The city’s plan is to accommodate half these new residents in mid-rise developments.

With Mid-Rise developments ranging from four to eleven stories, many questions are asked around where these developments will be built and with what methods of construction. Marco explores these two pertinent questions, looking at precedents from our city, the planning legislation in place and the potential future changes to our building code to better understand this future landscape. The May issue of Construction Canada is available online.
