Our masterplan for this international university’s new campus provides world-class teaching, laboratory and research facilities as well as a humanities building, science building, training centre, and international exchange centre. In reference to the classical Chinese gardens found in the historic parts of Suzhou, we designed a circular form and positioned the seven new campus buildings around a central landscaped courtyard. A series of concrete pathways elegantly thread over small ponds and water features to create an efficient yet enjoyable student experience through the site. The outdoor space also includes sculptural canopies and a sunken plaza with amphitheatre seating to accommodate student events and activities.
