Quadrangle is pleased to announce the promotions of Karl Van Es, Mauro Carreño, Yves Bonnardeaux and Elle Fitzpatrick to Associate and Michelle Xuereb to the role of Director of Innovation.

Karl joined Quadrangle in 2016 and has distinguished himself as an exceptional project manager, leading teams on large multi-unit residential projects. He has built an excellent working relationship with clients such as Saddlebrook and Pemberton on projects such as Rosedale Village, 543 Richmond Street West and Phases II and III of the Indigo Condominiums at the Maple GO Station in the City of Vaughan. A passionate advocate for sustainable design, Karl is a dedicated member of our in-house Green Team. Karl is a valued mentor for junior staff, and the Studio also benefits from his involvement in organizing our popular after-hours Food for Thought design discussion series.

Mauro came to the Studio in 2016 and is the project lead for a number of complex high-rise buildings including King and Duncan towers, 357 King Street West and Bathurst and St Clair. As an advocate for technical excellence, Mauro contributes his expertise to the Studio’s Green Team and Revit Standards Committee. Mauro has a deep understanding of how design impacts the natural environment and, in particular, enjoys sharing his passion for bird-friendly design.

Yves has been with Quadrangle since 2014 and has worked on a wide range of project types, playing a significant role in leading the design and project management for the new Maison Radio-Canada in Montreal and the GM Mobility Campus in Toronto’s East Bayfront. Yves is a member of our Green Team and provides Sustainability Orientation to all new hires at Quadrangle. He also organizes our annual CN Tower Climb which raises funds for United Way.

Elle joined Quadrangle in 2015 as the Executive Assistant to Les Klein and Brian Curtner. In the years since, her role has expanded to also include event planning, supporting the Executive Team, and assisting the Business Development team with various initiatives. Elle will assume a larger role with the Executive Team focused on logistical and operational support.

Michelle joined Quadrangle in 2006. As Quadrangle’s Sustainability Strategist, she has since contributed to over 30 LEED certified projects completed by Quadrangle and established a Green Team for office-wide project sustainability strategies. Her long list of notable project work includes 80 Atlantic, 130 Bloor Street West, and CG Tower. Michelle has led the charge in establishing rigorous protocols for sustainable design for our projects and also ensures that the Quadrangle Studio is run as a model green office in every aspect. She is a respected and active mentor to many in the Studio and takes a lead role in organizing extensive training for all Project Leads. Michelle is passionate about sharing her knowledge of sustainable and resilient design and frequently speaks at conferences, writes articles, lectures at universities and engages the media on the topic.

As Quadrangle’s Director of Innovation, Michelle has responsibility for working across all pillars and studio groups to broaden opportunities for innovation and thought leadership inside and outside the firm. She will oversee Quadrangle’s commitment to innovation and the integration of new strategies into the work that we produce. She has a lifelong commitment to sustainability and will continue to lead our Green Team through the lens of innovation.

Please join us in congratulating Karl, Mauro, Yves, Elle and Michelle.
